I am a secretary by day, blogger by night and a mom 24/7. Through my blog, Atypical Familia, I chronicle our adventures of 2 Typical Parents Raising 1 Extraordinary Kid with autism. I write to provide hope for new autism parents and to inspire them to be advocates for their children.
I work closely with an autism non-profit organization in The Bronx called D3 Sports and Recreation. It was started by another autism mom who was determined to bring more sports and recreational activities to The Bronx for kids with autism at little to no cost for families. The Bronx is the most underserved borough in NYC when it comes to schools and therapies for individuals with special needs. Having my son be a part of D3 Sports and Recreation - having the chance to see him play baseball and do things "typical" kids do in a judgment-free environment is pretty special. And I really love helping D3 Sports and Recreation continue to grow and provide more services for kids and families in any way that I can.
How You Can Help:
Having a child with autism can be difficult financially. And often, specialized programs are expensive.
D3 Sports and Recreation prides itself on offering services at little to no cost for families. But the only way it can continue to do that is through sponsorships and donations. If you would like to make a donation to the D3 Sports and Recreation - please visit http://d3sportsandrec.org/ and to learn more about the Bronxchester Little League visit -
