How To Be A Dad
My name is Charlie. I'm co-founder of HowToBeADad.com and Director of Social for Addison Interactive. I'm a published author (Random House) and my work has been on the front pages of AOL, Buzzfeed, LeanIn.org, HuffPost, NY Times - to name some. As the father of two boys, I've since learned I'm allergic to sleep.
My two passions right now, besides making sure my two sons try new foods, are redefining how fathers are perceived as well as how they define themselves, and creating better cancer awareness. I've written about work/life balance for men and their gender roles for Buzzfeed and Fast Company, but I find personal narratives can do a great deal for men looking for answers. I've also done a fair bit of work in the cancer awareness arena, supporting organizations like Camp Kesem, Stand Up 2 Cancer, and Movember.
I lost my father to cancer ten years ago, and I want see this illness eradicated in my lifetime. I find these two topics seem intrinsically linked as fathers are faced with health issues, career choices and a cultural crossroads that affect our long-term goals.
How You Can Help:
Would love your support helping me spread the word about organizations that help those affected by cancer, including Camp Kesem, Movember, as well as engaging with us on HowToBeADad.com about the topic of engaged fatherhood.
Both men and women have important things to say about fatherhood, and what the future of engaged parenthood looks like.
