Meet Eliana:

My name is Eliana Tardio and I’m the mother of Emir & Ayelen. Both of my children have Down syndrome, and that’s how I started this mission of love to create awareness about inclusion for people with special needs. Through www.elianatardio.us in English and www.elianatardio.com I share with others our dreams and challenges as a family with the solely intention to inspire and empower others who are going through similar circumstances.

Eliana's Passion:

My life project is to normalize the perception of disability. It’s a never ending project, a 24/7 mission of making of every experience an opportunity to educate about people living with disabilities and their families. I think that once people understand that disability is just a typical way to live and succeed, everything around will change for good and natural inclusion of people with all abilities will be a reality. On March 21st we celebrate Down syndrome world day. I’m right now working on finding opportunities to spread the word and create collaborations with other social media influencers who are willing and committed to celebrate diversity. For anyone interested, you can contact me at eliana@elianatardio.com.

How You Can Help:

Everyone is part of change and evolution, and just by sharing, learning, and asking questions, you are changing the future of my children and every person with disability. I think the most important thing to do is to get to know every person as an individual, instead of assuming that you already know them based on their disabilities. As a parent of typical children, please talk with your children about their peers with disabilities. They play a key role in the inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms. Typical children are a gift to children with special needs, and they can learn as well from them in oder to become compassionate and empathetic human beings.
