Jess, I’ve been inspired for years to do something for women in my community, but now that I have a six-month-old daughter, I’m feeling really convicted to make it happen. I am baffled by what pregnancy and childbirth did to me and my self-esteem, and I’m SURE other women feel or felt the way I did postpartum. I would love to create the “Average Joe Fashion Show,” a fashion show for women who 1) love fashion and 2) who have conquered body image changes and self-esteem issues. I’m thinking women with kids, pregnant women, single moms, young girls and others who aren’t models but deserve to feel good about themselves. Email with me about it. You’re the only one I can think of who just might help me make it happen!

I’ve created a web site dedicated to fostering positive self image to women while providing useful everyday information. My goal is for women to feel good about themselves, not just in terms of their bodies, but also their successes in life — as mothers, career women, students, etc. I hope to inspire and encourage women to be the best that they can be, not to reach an ideal set by society, but to achieve a sense of self worth based on real values. I hope you will take a look.

As it turns out, I actually blogged about the Dove campaign. I cannot thank you enough for this emphasis. While I blog weekly, here’s the post from 2008 that celebrates what you do…
